Clinton (Hells Kitchen), New York City - good neighborhood for families with kids?

I would say probably not. It's really crowded because of its proximity to Times Square, it's dirty, there aren't really any trees and parks. It's kind of gross -- I guess there's a reason why the name "hell" is involved with the locale. It's pretty sketchy at night too.
