"Can be spacious in places"

The Cleveland Park neighborhood is part of the same Metro planning area as McFerrin Park and Greenwood. (The Greenwood neighborhood doesn’t yet have a shaded section on the StreetAdvisor map.) The community plan for this region is, in fact, named the Cleveland Park plan. Given this, I expect that Cleveland Park will see some major improvements in the next few years.

This area has some wonderfully spacious yards and some truly towering trees to offer, depending on which streets you check.

Please note that the Cleveland Park neighborhood did see some flooding this past May, in the extreme southwest corner and in the extreme northeast one. (These corners are near the Cumberland River and a local creek, respectively.) We’re only talking about a few blocks here, but it was residential; be aware when you’re looking around those areas.

MTA’s bus route #28 runs through the Cleveland Park neighborhood. The #23 goes along Dickerson Road on the western edge of this area.

"Soon to improve"

Cleveland Park is bounded by Dickerson Pike, Douglas Ave., Cleveland Drive, and is near Ellington Parkway.

It is a rough area, known as a place for violence and to buy drugs. But it may be getting help soon from Oprah Winfrey's father, Vernon Winfrey. The former Metro councilman operated a barbershop in the area for 45 years and now wants to give back.

Planned is a mixed use development called Winberry, named after Winfrey. It will include homes and retail. They want to work with Big Brothers and Big Sisters to also provide more services there.

It is a gentrifying area, with many beautiful homes that need to be restored. Could this be Nashville's next hot market?

"A little taste of Nashville"

Cleveland Park is situated near Ellington Parkway which connects the downtown area to North Nashville. A popular route for individuals who live along Ellington Parkway to get to work in downtown Nashville. Cleveland Park is located near Dickerson Pike, Douglas Ave and Cleveland Street. Many homes in the Cleveland Park area are older homes with several apartments in the area as well. You will not see very many condo buildings in this area.

The Cleveland Community Center offers numerous activities outside as well as inside. The community center is the center of attention for school age children who wish to swim year round in their indoor pool. The fee to enter is charged for adults only with children being free of charge. The area draws attention to those individuals who want a place to practice football as well as softball.

Located in between Nashville and Madison, Tennessee, there are numerous shopping choices to choose from. A super Walmart is not to far away while home improvement stores are even closer. You can choose between the Lowes or the Home Depot when looking for a home improvement store. If you do not want to travel all the way to the super Wal-Mart, you can choose to go to the Wal-Mart Market. Aside from the Wal-Mart Market, you have the Kroger to choose from as well as the Piggly-Wiggly.

The schools in the area are good for school aged children offering a full day of activities and learning for the children. Glenn Elementary Enhance Option School is located at 322 Cleveland Street as well as the Glenn Middle School. When looking at the schools on Douglas Ave, you have the Kipp Academy located at 123 Douglas Ave or Highland Heights Middle School. No matter what age the children are, there is a school nearby for them to attend.

When looking to find a place to eat out at, the local area offers a Pizza Hut as well as Charlie Bobs BBQ. A popular choice is the Big’s T Fish, Chicken and Ribs restaurant which offers plenty of choices. If you want to head into the city, you have some of the popular choices such as Cadillac Jacks and The Wildhorse Saloon. If you are in the downtown area, you will not want to miss out on the foot stomping action of the local Coyotes at Coyote Ugly. Stop in and get yourself a shot to see what all the fuss is about.
