Drink a beer or have a glass of wine with friends at one of the open front bars and enjoy the much needed blessing of rain in Colorado.

HeatherS Oops yeah...with kids if I was downtown Boulder and it started pouring I would bring them to the kite & toy store Into The Wind on Pearl Street. 9/10 the rain will pass in an hour at most and that store has amazing things for kids and adults.

Head to the library! Especially in the back of the kids section. The huge walls of windows facing the Boulder Creek make for fantastic rain watching. The kids section has games, a play house/puppet house, lots of books (obviously) and computers with games. And it's free with no obligation to buy or salespeople watching your kids like hawks. It is a beautiful building, and I've always thought you could judge a community by their library. And by the way, Louisville has a beautiful new library with a great kids section and big windows from which you can watch the rain or trains go by!
