Would you recommend the Austin neighborhood in Chicago for families with kids?

Not really. I would say the Austin neighborhood is a bit too dangerous for families with kids, and it seems a bit depressing to me when I travel through there. It just looks run down, and while I feel it could have a comeback at some point, right now it's just sorta depressing. I'd suggest going elsewhere if you have kids.
