Atlantic Ave, Coney Island / Sea Gate

People from all over the city head over to Atlantic Ave because it's the home of Target and the Atlantic Center, which houses our local DSW, a giant Marshall's and all of the usual retail spots found in standard commercial malls. The place is always, always massively crowded - and I really recommend getting to Target early in the morning on a weekday, if at all possible. It's a mad house in there just about all of the time.

Besides the Atlantic Center, Atlantic Ave is home to the Brooklyn Urban Outfitters and there is an American Apparel close by. In short, Atlantic Ave is home to just about every mall or chain retail outlet your heart could ever desire. Close to the Brooklyn Bridge Atlantic Ave becomes especially downtown-like, but where it cuts through Cobble Hill there are a lot of interesting little restaurants and boutique shops.

The avenue is crazy packed with traffic just about all of the time - especially in the areas from the BQE to the Atlantic Center, and it kind of tapers off after that. I don't think I would want to live on this street, just because it is a little too busy and a little too commercial for my tastes.

The Clinton Hill/ Prospect Heights area of Atlantic Ave features some really great eating spots, and plenty of stores in which to purchase antique furniture. Though there is a lot to do here, the area stays pretty quiet as it avoids being much of a bar scene.

Blue Marble Ice Cream between Bond and Nevins features some of the greatest ice cream I have ever tasted - try the pumpkin or stick o'butter pecan flavors. The shop features an area for kids to play and incorporates every environment friendly tactic you can think of into both the actual ice cream and surrounding bits like cups and napkins.

Nicky's Vietnamese Sandwiches is another spot that makes this street worth visiting; the shop itself is rather cozy and the sandwiches are an inexpensive treat. Both the traditional Vietnamese pork sandwich and the sardine sandwich are delectable; they are served on the most perfectly toasted baguettes imaginable.

This area of the Brooklyn street serves as a fabulous backdrop for a stroll, and it's perfectly safe to wander Clinton Hill's Atlantic Ave after the sun sets, though shops here don't stay open for very long after dark sets in.

So..what do you want to buy today? Go to Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. You will find every store you wanted. Every store you didn't think of or know about. And every store that needs to be there. So much food and shopping to do. Atlantic avenue mall has Target now. I was so glad to see that. Brooklyn needed a good Target.

When you get off the subway at Atlantic, you might be overwhelmed because there is alot going on. There is the Atlantic Mall, which has a Target, Old Navy, Circuit City, McDonald's, Victoria Secret and other smaller stores. There is also many stores along the strip.

This is a very convenient street to shop at since you can get most anything here. However, I would not want to live on the street because it is just too busy and noisy with pedestrians. But you can catch many subway lines, including the N,R,Q,W, 2, 3, 4, 5 and the LIRR to get into Long Island.

Definitely a street to visit for a short period of time.

This is a crwoded street with a really, truly dangerous areas of crossing to the other sides of the street. Besides the traffic signals, there are usually NYPD traffice officers who try to stop the car flow and let the people cross the huge wide street. It's a little bit scary and you feel unsecured when crossing especially because the crossing line is sequed and not straight. The only thing good about this street is that it's adjacent to Atlantic Center & Atlantic Terminal. A mini version mall where you can find a bunch of useful stores/resturants like:
Target, Victoria's secret, Subway, MacDonlad, Cold Stone, Daffy's, Circuit City, Old Navy, Verizon Wireeless, Chuckee Cheese, and few other stores.
Another important thing in the Atlantic Center is the DMV - Brooklyn branch, where you can go and apply for a driving liceness, non-drivign photo ID or a driving permit.

Atlantic Avenue is a long winding street in the energetic borough of Brooklyn. Housing everything from housing to Macy's, this street is the heartbeat of this neighborhood. I like this area of Brooklyn a lot, and think that it's a great place to live, work, or visit. If you're thinking about moving to the city, I think you should consider this area! You'll also find it well-connected to the MTA via the C and S trains on Fulton Street, which is one block north of Atlantic Avenue.

The area near Atlantic Aenue and Flatbush Avenue is home to one of Brooklyn's few malls. In a city where stores are usually found along a strip instead of in housed in a mall, Atlantic Terminal is definitely is here to stay. The mall is has stores stores such as Old Navy, Marshalls, Payless, Daffy's, and Bath & Body Works, and Target. The mall is in a very convenient location, because the subway runs right under it. These include the 2,34,5,M,N,R trains.

Soon the new stadium will be built right in the area, which will be home to the Brooklyn Nets. This area on Atlantic Avenue will soon be a world attraction as it continues to become developed and give Brooklyn it's own identity.

The street is not the one like high end shopper’s one but simply a street for locals. Anywhere on the street you will come across painters, artisans and musicians displaying pieces of their artwork in order to get some monetary gain. Unlike other streets in New York, there are mosques and other places of Arabic interests. In one of the stores there were beautifully woven carpets. I bought my self a small carpet rug souvenir for pleasant memories. The other side of the street is a picture of huge buildings and establishments, some of which are administrative and educational. The street hosts a fair, known as Atlantic Antic. Here you will get a variety of art works and displays of antiques.

While the elevated LIRR does tend to kill off a lot of business opportunities once you're past Atlantic Avenue Terminal, the western portion of the avenue is a great place to pass some time, it being mainly populated by churches, botique shops, and plenty of little cafes. And don't miss the far eastern side of the avenue, for some of the best middle eastern food you'll find in the city.

Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn is one of the longest avenues in New York City. It was named after the Atlantic Ocean which is also one of the longest oceans. It is also one of the busiest streets since it homes famous restaurants, cafes, well-known shops, and other famous commercial services one can find in the City.
