I would say Midtown near Piedmont park is diverse ( both from an ethnic and sexual orientation point of view). The park/restaurants/bars brings in a diversity of people and backgrounds. I love it because of its walkability and access to the belt line which connects you to the other neighborhoods. Its also becoming a very bicycle friendly area. I live here and pretty much walk to everything. I would highly suggest exploring the midtown area as it offers a lot.
