Ashbury Heights does not have alot of crime compared to the rest of San Francisco. It is mostly a residential neighborhood right around Buena Vista Park, so it doesn't get as much traffic as other neighborhoods, which reduces the crime rate somewhat. I wouldn't say it is any safer than SF overall, but it is definitely not worse.
