"Nice, Affordable Community Near Columbia River"

Located in East Portland, Argay is a nice, clean and popular community for families whether with young children or teens. With lots of shopping and restaurants nearby and an easy commute to Portland, there is a little something for everyone here. Home styles vary and are still considered very affordable and the schools are also considered very good. This area is popular for singles that want to live outside of Portland proper, so there are plenty of apartments in Argay. A strong sense of community is evident and crime statistics are low.

The popular Argay Park is a nice wide-open space that includes play structures, paved and unpaved paths, tennis courts (lighted) as well as a dog off leash and plenty of picnic and sport fields.

"Lots of Shopping, But Low Walkability"

Argay is in East Portland right near Sandy Blvd. It is bordered by Russell and Parkrose. Argay has a lot to offer in terms of all the shopping and restaurants that are located in this part of town. Many people also find its proximity to Sandy to be quite beneficial. Although Sandy tends to be a busy street, you can get from one place to another quite quickly on this road. However, keep in mind that this neighborhood isn't very walkable, and you will find yourself hopping in your car to get from one place to another.

At first glance, Argay may not seem like the most attractive neighborhood. However, there are parks including Argay Park, which is almost 9 acres. Argay park has some pretty trees and gardens and a nice playground for the kids. It also has a decent size off-leash area for dogs.

Homes tend to be quite modest. Many provide pretty views of the mountains. I would imagine many people chose Argay due to the fact that you can find very affordable prices on homes. Argay also is quite close to the river.

"Argay Offers Both Suburban and Urban Feel"

The Northeast Portland neighborhood of Argay is located right next to the Columbia River. While it's bounded by several busy roads, including Interstate 84, it is known within NE Portland as a quiet neighborhood, past the busy streets, though there are still several major thoroughfares cutting through the neighborhood.

The area is home to a mix of apartment buildings and houses, giving it both a suburban and urban feel. Home to many families, the community's several parks, such as Argay Park, are quite popular. There are lots of kids and teens living in Argay, along with a sizable number of retirees.

In addition to plenty of housing, there are a few major businesses within the neighborhood, such as Costco, which draw shoppers from surrounding neighborhoods. There are also many smaller businesses owned by locals, in particular several Asian restaurants that are favorites among Argay residents.

Argay is less walkable than many other areas of Portland. Most people appear to own cars rather than relying on public transit. However, thanks to the major streets bounding the neighborhood, those living in the area also tend to enjoy the relatively easy commute to downtown and other areas known for their shopping and dining possibilities.
