"Some great homes on a now defunct golf course"

I have lived in Antelope Hills for nine years. Although I loved this subdivision when we first moved here, I have come to not like it very much anymore. There was once a golf course and a clubhouse that had a really great restaurant in it, but now both are gone. When the economy went sour, so did a lot of other things. Many homes here were up for sale and many have been foreclosed on. Having said that, there are some incredible deals here now. We had friends who purchased their house in 2001 for over $600,000. It has over 4,700 finished square feet (some of it in the basement) and that house is now up for sale for $325,000.

There used to be a really good neighborly spirit and community feel, but along with many of the families that moved out that went with it as well. There are still friendly neighbors but it's not like back in the day when there were parties at people's home and half the neighborhood was there.

The development was originally planned to have over 300 homes in it, but there are just under 100. For kids who go to the local school district, there is only one bus stop here, at the front of the development near the mailboxes. Considering the homes are so far apart, many kids have to walk well over a mile+ to get home. In the nice months this isn't bad, but during the cold, windy winter months this can be brutal.

I would recommend this street for anyone who needs to live farther out east and needs a good sized home for a steal. I wouldn't recommend this neighborhood for dining, nightlife, or the school district.
Pros
  • nice big homes for cheap right now
  • good neighbors
Cons
  • poor school district
