"Overpopulation at work"
I have lived in Alameda for many years, and while the city does have its fair share of good qualities (nice beaches/parks, proximity to SF, safety, etc.) it gets more crowded every single year, and this is not a good thing. If you don't believe me, try visiting Alameda Towne Centre (formerly South Shore) on a Saturday and good luck finding a parking spot. Crowded to the brim. This is a very family-focused town (overly so) and not the ideal place for singles or childfree couples. Kids roam around EVERYWHERE. I have nothing against children, only against their clueless parents who let their kids run amok everywhere they go. So if this bothers you, as it does a good number of people, consider SF instead, if you can afford it, or some other place where the "family friendly" attitude is not crammed down your throat every time you leave your house. Good luck.
