New York CityGuide

Life in the Big City can be hectic, exciting, scary, amazing, thrilling and most of all fun. There a reason it's called one the best cities in the world... because is it! From the hustle and bustle of Times Square, to the amazingly relazing Central Park to the gladiatory stadium of Madison Square Gardens, NYC has it all.

New York City is also know for it's multicultural population, and it can be seen most notably in its diverse neighborhoods spreadout through the great city. Some of the more popular neighborhoods in New York include:

  • SoHo - A beautiful neighborhhod in NYC, it's called SoHo becuase its boundaries lie South of Houston Street. Known for being one of the trendier areas in the New York, it's home to hip bohemian bars and lush art galleries. SoHo's fantastic location combined with it's living appeal make it the ideal place for visitors to simply stroll there, or budding creatives to take up residence.
  • Chelsea - Recently Chelsea has been undergoing somewhat of a reinvention. What was once deserted storefronts, new shops are opening up from coffee bookstores to casual bistros. Real estate prices are on the rise in the neighborhood, as are the amount of people moving in to the area. A photographers delight, Chelsea has some beautiful architecture. With its old brownstones throughout, combined with the new art shops you will often see photographers strolling the streets.

Noise Levels

Noise levels in NYC can be extremely high. Obviously around the major areas, like Times Square and the finnacial district, there are horns and more horns from cabs and angry drivers. There are of course very very quiet areas amonst the wealth of parks spread across the beautiful city. Overall it's a noisy city, but like most places, there are some gems where you can relax and unwind in perfect silence.

Traffic

It's NYC, of course there is Traffic, but not as bad as you might think. Broadway of course is very busy in the morning, lunch and after work, but you can always go down 3-9th to get better traffic.
