I have family that lives on this street in D.C. and it is one of the nicest places to live in D.C. by far. Housing is however very expensive but is so worth it. Rhode Island Avenue is a major thoroughfare in DC through to the northeast. I’ve driven on it many times (and gotten lost just as many times). Not the most exciting place, nor the safest. Best to venture here in the daytime if you must. Definitely not anywhere to go at night!

13th Street is much more residential than 14th Street or 17th Street, but all the amenities of those areas and U Street are only a few blocks away. 13th street is lined primarily with rowhouses, as opposed to condo buildings. The metro is at 13th and U, very convenient.
