Suburban living close to the city

I've just moved into Richmond and I highly recommend it to anyone moving from interstate. I moved from Sydney not long ago and Richmond really does seem to have a lot going for it. Shopping is great with Bridge Rd and Victoria Gardens shopping center, and the food is fantastic again with Bridge ro...

Great inner city living..close to EVERYTHING

If you want to be close to the city yet fair enough from the crowds then richmond is the place to be. MCG, City, Bridge Rd, Swan St, Chapel St. Great transport freeways, trams and trains.

Location Location Location

Richmond is about as good as it get when it comes to suburbs in Melbourne. It's perfect for young singles\couple who are looking to live in a suburb that has great shopping, good bars and is close to the city. Some people complain about some of the dodgier streets around the commission flats, but...

Best Vietnamese Food

Victoria Street has the best and most prolific range of Vietnamese restaurants, heading out of the city on the far side of Punt Road there is plenty of places to eat along a stretch of about two or three streets/blocks. It's hard to find parking and can be a bit of a dingy area after the restaurants...

Bridge Rd Richmond is the best place in town to grab a bite to eat and go shopping on a Saturday afternoon. Don't drive, take the tram (number 48 goes right along there) or the train to Richmond station and spend an afternoon browsing the racks in some unique fashion stores or diving through some of...

Has it all, especially location

How to describe Richmond...business district? eating district? crime district? I think a little of everything to be honest.

Bridge Road, Swan Street and Victoria Street are the main shopping\restaurant areas of Richmond, all of which are wonderful.
I pretty much only go to Swan Street for a couple of reasons.
Odd name to be sure and it's not doing the street any favors. Factories line it, as does graffiti! Ok location being in the heart of Richmond, but I personally would avoid this one.

Location is fantastic

Highett Street in Richmond is a main road, but don't let this deter you. The houses are set back on their blocks so noise isn't as much of an issue as you might expect.
Good with a few small annoyances

Kent Street in Richmond is a wide street with great location, some graffiti and some smack heads. That pretty much sums it up!

Seriously though, Kent Street does have some nice houses, and does generally have a nice family feel. The only let down is that there are occasionally some people here...

Close to bars, pubs, public transport.

Just off Swan St in Richmond, there are some rather large old style homes here. It's one of the more attractive streets in this area of Richmond, with some large trees lining the pavement. Overall the location is fantastic being so close to Chapel St and Bridge Road...you can't go wrong!

Docker Street in Richmond is a fantastic wide tree lined street, that stands out from some of the other ones in the area.
Livin' on the dark side of Richmond has it's risks

Grab a tiny plot of dirt, just add water and boom! Instant cheap housing. This more or less sums up this street.
