If you want to be close to the city yet fair enough from the crowds then richmond is the place to be. MCG, City, Bridge Rd, Swan St, Chapel St. Great transport freeways, trams and trains.

Victoria Street has the best and most prolific range of Vietnamese restaurants, heading out of the city on the far side of Punt Road there is plenty of places to eat along a stretch of about two or three streets/blocks. Oh man, if you love shopping Bridge Road is definitely for you! Make sure your wallet is full and your shoes are comfy because you could easily spend a whole day walking up and down this street of stores and just as easily spend a small fortune. Odd name to be sure and it's not doing the street any favors. Factories line it, as does graffiti! Ok location being in the heart of Richmond, but I personally would avoid this one.

Perfect for young couples and single people, Lennox Street is fantastic. Location is so hard to beat, as you are right near Bridge Road, Swan Street and Chapel Street...all the major retail streets in the area.

My local drinking place is the London Terrace Pub and I highly recommend it on Friday...

Highett Street in Richmond is a main road, but don't let this deter you. The houses are set back on their blocks so noise isn't as much of an issue as you might expect. There is a great tree canopy overhead, and the location is fantastic being so close to Richmond Station, Bridge Road and Swan Str...

Kent Street in Richmond is a wide street with great location, some graffiti and some smack heads. That pretty much sums it up!

Seriously though, Kent Street does have some nice houses, and does generally have a nice family feel. The only let down is that there are occasionally some people here...

Close to bars, pubs, public transport.

Just off Swan St in Richmond, there are some rather large old style homes here. It's one of the more attractive streets in this area of Richmond, with some large trees lining the pavement. Overall the location is fantastic being so close to Chapel St and Bridge Road...you can't go wrong!

Great location hard to beat!

Docker Street in Richmond is a fantastic wide tree lined street, that stands out from some of the other ones in the area. It doesn't have that run down feel to it, which is nice, and there are a lot of younger people in the area.

River street is a no through street/road which is great in cutting down on traffic volume that would otherwise link River Bvld and Victoria Street.
Located at the tree lined end of the street is child care centre and also a nursing home.
At the door step is the walking/bike track along the Yarra...

We recently moved back to the Eastern-End-of-Bridge-Rd area of Richmond and it feels like coming home. Great shops, heaps of restaurants, trams, river, trees, wide streets.

I just wish there were more nice cafe's in Bridge Rd, especially at our end. I find most of the cafes a bit to 'commercial'...

King Street, while visually not as pleasing as some other Richomd Streets, is a fantastic place to live.

Whether you enjoy football or not, being so close to the "G" means great access to Yarra Park, for nice walks and to the atmosphere of Melbourne's sporting and entertainment hub.

A great tree lined street starting behind the churches on Richmond Hill and ending at Swan St. With beautiful views of the city skyline and great proximity to, well, everything really.

Forget about needing a car. If the trams along Swan St and Bridge Rd aren't enough to get you to the city then...

The restaurants along the western half of Victoria Street are interesting and great for Asian eating, and there's a couple of decent western pubs and cafes too. At the eastern end the street crosses the Yarra, allowing for nice cycling around the yarra bend park.

Bridge road in Richmond is the kind of street you have a love hate relationship with. Similar to Chapel Street and Brunswick Street, Bridge Road in Richmond offers so much for everyone!

What I love about our street is the real community we have - which was totally unexpected for a place in this pocket of Richmond! We bought our place because we wanted to be at the centre of everything but in a location which just enough away to be a little more quiet. I love wandering to the shop...

While I haven't actually lived on Victoria St I've been around here quite a while. We first moved offices here in 2001 before the big Victoria Gardens shopping center was built and being at the far end (on the Yarra) everything was a long walk away. Now with Vic Gardens around there's plenty more...

We've got public transport at our doorstep, cafes and restaurants just around the corner. Supermarkets in every direction and a pub on each corner. Who could ask for anything more?
