"8th Ave NE just above NE 40th St in the U-District"
This part of 8th Ave NE is one-way going north. Not very many people know that. When I lived there, it was me and four other people renting a house so if you're a student looking for a house for you and a bunch of roommates, it's a good place to look.
On this section of 8th Ave, not only are you right in the U-District, you're also close to the Burke-Gilman trail so if you have a bike, it's really easy to get to Fremont or Ballard. Plus, you can walk to a bus stop at the north end of the University Bridge if you want to go to Capitol Hill or downtown.
