"Just Moved Here, and I love it! (live in the 70s near water)"

I just moved to Bay Ridge from Williamsburg Brooklyn. I'm addicted to food, atmosophere, and out door activities. I was afraid when I moved here with my fiance that I would lose all of that, but suprisingly a lot of that is here. The food here is really good, but they need to work on their atmosphere. I will say, if you can think of a culture or type of food, you can find it here within about a block of where you live which is very nice. There are also a ton or different grocery stores and bank options. My bank is citibank, and there are like 3 banks here... im astounded.

Also, the houses are beautiful, the rent (if you rent) is very low for the amount of space you get. My apartment is more like a condo. A two bedroom, living and diningroom, large updated kitchen, safe tree lined street, close to the water, parks, grocery, bars, laundry, dog, and I have a parking spot... $1800. thats my place.

I'll admit the ride is a bit long into the city. So if you're single.... maybe not the best place to move. This is more of a place for couples and families. But trust me when I say, I've made everybody in my family jealous with my apartment. Even my parents who own a house in Long Island wanna move to bay ridge its so nice. But the parking around here is terrible... so i suggest getting a place with a parking spot if you have a car.

I also became apart of the local CSA, and I bring my dog to the lovely dog run in Owls Head Park. Its just rediculously nice here, and everyone is very friends. And people look out for eachother here. My neighbors are so nice and volunteer to watch my dog, and even offer their yard sometimes! I'm still getting used to walking around without thinking I'm on my own. But its very nice. Everyone is very nice here.
Pros
  • lots of banks
  • lots of grocery stores
  • diversity in cultural foods
  • friendly neighbors
  • quiet, inexpensive
  • Nice restaurants; lots of bars
Cons
  • long train ride
  • very little boutique shops
  • few pet stores

"On 97th Street"

97th Street is a classic street in Brooklyn with a lot to offer. You can find a range of businesses and services, ranging from a small hospital to a school to even a few local restaurants on the nearby Avenue. One thing I do encourage in Brooklyn is a trip to one of the many restaurants, not on this street, but all throughout the neighborhood for some real Brooklyn are. I liked this street and thought that it was well connected. Public transportation is an option in this lively neighborhood, though having a car is a plus. All in all, a nice street in Brooklyn.
