"Interesting street, with one great business"

This street will take you downtown, and as you go, you'll pass Bottletree, a great cafe and music venue. I saw Rogue Wave here, and have enjoyed the thick vegan chili (and I'm not even a vegan) many times. It's got a great vibe on the inside, but I wouldn't really feel safe 100 feet or so in any direction. Other than the safety issue, the whole street is interesting.

kewon3rd 3rd Avenue South continues again in the heart of East Lake Neighborhood. Since 2005 East Lake has joined other communities on the East Side of Birmingham as the more “liberal” and artistic side of town. Dubbed the Birmingham Gay Ghetto and up-coming affordable Art District. 3rd Avenue South is the epicenter from were this movement has started. This spring 2008 will begin the big push for artists to migrate into the East Lake Community. On 3rd Avenue South you can still find very affordable 1920’s style English Tudors and Arts and Crafts Bungalows between 30-90K. Artists of all kinds and the GLBT community have been invited to join this movement to create a unique oasis here in the eastern shadows of our Magic City. This spring 2009 we shall see many changes to East Lake as the migration continues. See also:
