"16th is vastly overrated"

It is obvious that most of these reviews are from people who only visit a couple of times a year. 16th Street, while novel, leaves much to be desired.

As someone who lived downtown for a couple of years, I can tell you that the one thing that 16th has plenty of is homeless people. There is no shortage of panhandlers, and they move in droves in the mornings. They are not shy about confronting people, and it is common to be harassed.

As far as food goes, there is quite a bit, but the vast majority of the food is the same stuff you will find in any strip mall in the US, chain restaurants and fast food.

As far as shopping goes, there are a few decent stores, but just like the food, it is pretty much the same types of places you'll find in any other city in the country. There is no high-end shopping (Banana republic is not high-end), and there is really nothing unique here.

Outside of sporting events, the nightlife is sub-par and includes a few ho-hum bars with varying degrees of memorability.

I have since moved, but If you are looking for a shopping distraction for an afternoon that is outside, go to Boulder and visit Pearl Street. If you are looking for high end shopping, go to Cherry Creek.

Visit 16th street only if you are a fan of bland development that is a carbon copy of every other outdoor shopping center in the country.

"Heart of the city"

16th St. is the heart of downtown Denver with two malls and countless restaurants and shops. There's a free shuttle that takes people from Larimer to Broadway, good for when you've just bought too much stuff to walk back.

"The heart of Denver"

16th street is completely closed off to traffic (aside from mall shuttles) so there are hundres to thousands of people walking down it at any given time. there are dozens of restaurants and shops that will please anyones taste or budget. in the middle of downtown, the 16th Street pedestrian mall embodies all that is Denver, Colorado.

"Everything anybody could want on one stretch of street"

I am not sure it is really fair to call 16th street a street at all. You can't drive down it, unless you are riding the Mall Ride shuttle. However, 16th Street in Denver has EVERYTHING anybody could want. Want to catch a movie? Head toward the Pavilions on 16th street for an amazing theater. Feel like some libations and a lively crowd? Check out Coyote Ugly, also at the Pavilions. Want some great seafood? Stop into Willie G's for an excellent wine menu, and great seafood to boot. Looking for some shopping? Stop in to Ann Taylor, or the Children's Place, or even TJ Maxx or Ross to find what you are looking for. Everything is right there in that one place in Denver!

"16th st mall, denver"

The 16th st mall in downtown denver is amazing. No cars are allowed, but a free shuttle runs up and down the street every couple of minutes. Every kind of store you would want to shop at is along the mall. There are also great eating places all along the mall. My favorite place is the tattered cover book store.
