Stay inn and suites on Jefferson

Me and a friend 2 girls are coming to Detroit for movement festival in may we are looking for a place to stay that isn't too expensive. How is the area around the stay inn and suites on Jefferson? The hotel itself? Would it be safe to park our car in the area? And would it be safe to take public transportation downtown during the day? Any other affordable hotels you would recommend or would we be best just staying in one of the downtown hotels?

It's a dive. You'd have a better time staying at the downtown Holiday Inn Express. Parking your car downtown is not usually a problem, and getting around on the People Mover will be helpful as well.

Lc2013 Thanks unfortunately the holiday inn is sold out as are most hotels in downtown for the weekend we are coming so looks like well be spending a little more than planned and booking a room at the marriot one of only four hotels with availability. Thanks for the tip on the people mover.
