I know you posted this a long time ago, but I just saw it. Is Magee Ave in one of the best neighborhoods in Philadelphia? I happen to live near Magee Ave. But Magee Ave runs through several Northeast Philadelphia neighborhoods, and those neighborhoods are relatively safe. Though as with anywhere, there is crime, such as robberies, and breaking into cars. My car was broken into a few years ago. Anyway, violent crime is rare. There are many stores and supermarkets throughout the area. And restaurants with foods from all over the world, especially on Castor Ave and Bustleton Ave, and which Magee Ave crosses both. Everything is well within reach either by walking or a short drive. And public transportation is good. And the cost of living along the neighborhoods which Magee Ave run through is all fairly reasonable. Most of the residents are middle-class, though there are some upper middle class, and some are lower class. As for the people, we are from all races, nationalities, and religions. And most of the neighborhoods that Magee Ave runs through were built after World War II. Though there are some older than that. Anyway, all in all, you would be safe. And having basic 'street smarts' will add all the more for your safety.
